My name is Haneey Brown and I am a professional independent make-up artist & stylist based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
I was born and grew up in East Sabah, one of the two Borneo states of Malaysia. This probably sounds like a detail to you, but it is in fact where I got and still get my inspiration. A lot of people tell me my Borneo roots are reflected in my make-up art, and it is true: Borneo's different tribes & clans, the jungle, the nature, the sea, the dance, the rituals, the costumes, the way of living etc. have indeed a huge influence on me, and are an important source of inspiration.
My "career" didn't start as a make-up artist or with a degree in a college. Out of poverty and being the oldest of a family of 7, I felt the obligation of earning some money to support my family since a young age, and worked for several years during my official school time at a local hair & beauty salon - That's where I learned the basics of make-up & hair style.
But my passion back then was actually dancing, especially traditional Malaysian group dance. I became a professional dancer and later dancing choreographer & art director for traditional Malaysian and South-East Asian dances, and participated in many International competitions and performances, and also won some prices for me and for my country Malaysia.
Over the years more and more dancers, dancing groups and performers were asking me for make-up & creative advice: Can you make-up me? Do you have an idea for a costume design? What should I do with my hair? Can you make my nose look smaller, my lips fuller, give to my eyes that expression of an exotic bird?...
In 2005 I have moved to Kuala Lumpur, Peninsular Malaysia, and now work as a professional independent make-up artist & stylist. What started with dancers and performance artist became more corporate and I can count some pretty well know brands, companies and artists my customers: Make Up Store, Dior & Polo Sport, Astro, Luxasia and some major film and TV producers. But I still enjoy and will never neglect to make private and personal events rememberable and special. It's my personal pleasure to be your Bridal make-up artist & hair stylist, and make you look your very best from dust till dawn on your wedding. On a more personal note, I am in a relationship with the most inspiring and challenging partner I can imagine. We love to travel the world, sail the sea, dive the ocean and climb the mountains. Discovering and exploring new people, cultures and beautiful landscapes keeps us occupied and inspired. Imagination and an open spirit are key to success and fulfillment. And hey, I am a Malaysian girl, so count me in for chatting and shopping ;-)
